Qualified Business Reply Mail (QBRM)

Qualified business reply mail is business reply mail that is compatible to with USPS automated processing equipment with an unique barcode called the Intelligent Mail barcode that speeds up the sorting and preparation of your mailing. It lowers the postage costs for large quantity mailings and requires a QBRM permit. QBRM is complicated due to its automation compatibility requirement, so it is recommended to outsource this service to companies that offer automation compatible printing.


How to get a Business Reply Mail or Qualified Business Reply Mail Permit?

A BRM or QBRM permit will allow you to distribute an unlimited amount of reply mailers throughout the US. Applications can be found here: PS Form 3615 and PS Form 6805.  One you file your application and pay the annual fee, you’ll need to setup an advanced deposit account that will be held at the postal facility where your mailing will return. This postage deposit will be deducted every time a reply mail is sent back to you. BRM and QBRM applications can be very tricky, either reach out to the Business Mail Entry Unit (BMEU) or a mailing company that can handle BRM and QBRM campaigns.
